Continuing downstream along the River Murray, we came to Swan Hill. There we visited the Pioneer Centre, where an authentic mid 19th century village has been assembled from buildings and artefacts collected from various places. An engineer in the farm machinery section cornered us and told us all the ins and out of the collection of rare tractors that he is renovating. He even started one up for me with much belching of smoke and loud bangs.
