Kalbarri national park has two main areas. We first explored the rugged coastal scenery and then headed inland down a long, dusty corrugated track the gorge carved by the Murchison river. We were able to clamber down into the gorge to see the river close up in all its brown, muddy, gurgling glory. The Murchison has a wide catchment area and is currently swollen by the cyclonic storms further north.
